What We Know Now is a digital media news project started by student researcher and journalist Ivy Lyons.
Started in 2019, the project initially worked to supplement local journalism products from freelance reporting and digital media products. The goal was initially to look at stories that may be on the shorter side or abbreviated for publication and go deeper than originally thought possible.
After a hiatus and continued engagement with journalism and media research, the podcast has grown to encompass projects on digital media, digital humanist, journalism history, journalism ethics, and much more. It also serves as the location for some classroom resources utilized for journalism and media education, provides space for globally impactful research, and allows young research to blossom in a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment.
What We Know Now Podcast
Ivy Lyons takes a look at news stories to ask what we know, what we don’t know, and what we could learn from impactful stories. When they can’t grab the answers, they search for a way using credible sources. Sometimes serious, sometimes silly, always sincere.
Episodes range from interviews with researchers whose work can inform our understanding of the news environment to deep dives from voices inside the local and national newsrooms we’ve come to know and love.

‘Media Question:’
Video essays at WWKN touch on those questions about the media that may not have answers, may be too long for the podcast, or just look cool. Episodes are uploaded to YouTube as big questions arise.
WWKN Blogs
Blog posts on WWKN are intended to touch on quick-moving or ongoing news stories, providing experience with quick and intelligible analysis of ongoing stories.
Posts also provide access to finished projects, ongoing works, and a managed archive of completed projects. On occasion, links that have died or been removed may be archived as blogs or individually sent to web archives.
